After a sell-out inaugural concert in 2016, the British Airways Orchestra is preforming once again. Bringing talented musicians from across the company together to raise money for Flying Start, this year’s concert will showcase once again the orchestras talents.
The British Airways Orchestra was founded in 2016 by Alex Melia and Gosia Zbos from the IFCE team.
Comprising of over 30 talented musicians from across the company, the ensemble brings a unique opportunity to allow colleagues to come together with their passion for music.
Violinist Alyson Rainey from Financial Accounting said: I hadn’t played in an orchestra for 30 years when I took part in the first BA Orchestra concert. Going back to my roots after fiddling in the folk world for a number of years was enormous fun and a somewhat nostalgic experience.”
Last year’s concert, introduced by Classic FM presenter Margarita Taylor, raised £3,000 for Flying start and this year’s performance is set to be even bigger. Under the leadership of conductor CSD Mark James, this year’s programme will be featuring classic performances from; Mendelssohn, Ravel, Sibelius, Schubert, Elgar and a special arrangement of the iconic Flower Duet, arranged by the orchestras very own Lyndon Ooi.
British Airways Orchestra will once again be raising money for Flying Start and the next performance is set to be held at the Waterside Theatre on the 15th of November.
